Spring 2013
The piece references childish dreams, feelings of simultaneous excess and enjoyment.
Fall 2014-Spring 2015
No. 1 is a foundational piece. It serves as a plaque made of basic material, mud, and was located on Tempel Green at Connecticut College for one week. Set as a disruption in a frequently traversed field, the piece broke down from rain, exposure, and curious passersby. Mud is the language for investigation, as its tactility and purpose vary by personal experience. The quote, a passage from I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, references the period of time that feels like you are being tugged in two directions: to retreat to playing like a kid in the mud or to clean yourself up and become an adult.
